You will have noticed the Layout of the discussion list by default now shows a preview snippet of the latest post under the thread title, this is to boost our google traffic and indexing, also many may find it a quick way to see latest replies and discover interesting topics.

however if anyone wishes to return to old layout you can disable the preview from preferences.

I am keeping all these innovative threads under control, because then when I try retrieving them I don't find them...

I like the look. Then I didn't. Now I'm undecided. Will keep it switched on to see how I get used to it

I'm doing the same thing Loofah, it's making my eyes ache as there is too much on the screen to take in. Maybe I'll get used to it, for the time being I've gone back to the old view.

Don't we already have this facility: "Spy" ?

I can see the logic behind boosting google traffic/indexing but seeing a snippet of the latest post under the title may not actually relate to the title post at all - threads are fluid have a tendency to go off in other directions. To my mind, it would make far more sense to have a snippet of the first, original, post previewing (for the purposes of a google traffic/indexing) as there is far more likelihood it pertains to the thread title than the latest (which could be the 4th, 19th, 25th or 30th post in the thread which may well have evolved into something completely different)!

I shall be disabling it because, in my opinion, it looks ... well ... erm ... messy!!
                    Simply too much "signage":-
                    1. bold text for titles,
                    2. smileys (from 1 - ??),
                    3. thumbnails (6 for one post alone at this moment in time),
                    4. profile pictures,
                    5. user name (original poster)
                    6. user name (last poster)
                    7. date stamps,
                    8. time stamps
                    9. thread titles,
                    10. forum titles
                    11. reply count
                    12. view count
                    13. teeny "preview" font
                    14. "Like" stamps
                    15. "Sticky" stamps
And that is for just ONE post!!
Multiply that for the 20 posts showing per page ... 300 pieces of signage (minimum)... that is a LOT of signage and very hard on the eyes.

If I went into a shop and was met with that much stuff to navigate through just to get to the deli counter ... I wouldn't bother ;)

I find that the "spy" facility takes a long time to load and, until the top of the list is reached, the words are not still.

Now I go to "new posts" and I can have a very good idea of the posts that I would like to read to the end.

Often, just those two lines are enough for me to read, I don't go to the thread at all. All this for me is a massive saving in time, since my browsing on the forum is on a "pop in and out" basis, most of the times.

I agree with @"M" it is too busy. I just go to New Posts and mark all posts as read when I exit so next visit I only get what I have not looked at.

Also, you can hover your mouse over the thread title and a box pops up with the first post in it ... so one can see if it is interesting to read or not.
                      ;)
