I have always done this method. Every year it gets more and more
as I grow so many different flowers/vegetables. I just love to save the seeds,
    as they can quite expensive.

Does anyone else do this?

I save beans and tomatoes, wouldn't like to thresh the latter though

I save mine into wide yoghurt pots, leave somewhere warm to dry then crumble the heads, give it a good shake, hopefully all the detritus comes to the top, then pick off the larger bits and gently blow to remove some more.
It is very time consuming and tedious.
