When I was out and about yesterday I saw one of these (picture from 'net)

I was in Dunelm and they have half a dozen on the reduced shelves. Originally £9.99 some were reduced to £4.99, another couple were reduced to £2.50 and then another couple were priced £2.49  :noidea:

    So, I bought a £2.49 one :heehee:

It promised homemade butter in 3 minutes of shaking

But, actually, it worked!! :thud: Nifty little gadget and a bicep exercise to boot :heehee:

Amazon are selling them at £10.99 and when I went to google for a picture, it seems the average price is is around the £15 mark! I would never have bought it at £9.99 to be really fair, but for £2.49 it was worth a punt. No way would I buy it for £15!!

So, if you wish to make some homemade butter in as little as 3 minutes ... go check out your Dunelm reduced counter!

@"M You know you have to get two - you don't want, ahem, one side more exercised than the other :heehee:

I didn't know you had Costco stores there!

I remember my grandparents making their own butter but it took them hours! I still have this picture in my mind of them sitting in their rocking chairs either side of a coal fire and they each had a small wooden churn on their hands. They sat there chatting and shaking the churns - with both hands :snork:

Their glasses of sweetened black tea were in saucers in the hearth (keeping warm by the fire) and they stopped every minute or so for a sip of tea. Chestnuts were cooking in the ashes below the grate. :dbgrtmb:

Life was simpler in those days. :)

Do you add just full fat milk in the jar?

When I was in Junior School we all had to donate the top of our milk for a "butter" project. The teacher collected it all and put it into jars. Then the jars were passed around each pupil who had to give the jar 30 shakes before passing it on :heehee: The highlight for me was being chosen to go to the shop (without a safety net!) and buy the bread. Then we all had a slice of bread and butter as a reward for all that shaking. Yup, definitely things were simpler then too :heehee:
