Can anyone help. I live in south west France and grow tomatoes out of doors. Just recently ripening tomatoes are being eaten. A jagged edged hole appears and then the fruit is almost "systematically" eaten away. I have had a bit of a problem with colorado beetles but they have been on the aubergines leaves - I have no potatoes -and I have squashed any I have found. If it was slugs I would have expected rounder nibbles and a more random attack. Excuse me for asking the UK but my French is not up to explaining the problem on a French forum even if I could find one.

I think it prob is the colorado beetle, not much attacks tomatoes the only other definite I could find is the American bollworm that usually attacks cotton plants but will also eat tomato fruits

see if you can view this thread..its not in the best of order as it has disappeared off the web and this is a cached page but it does have links to sites advising how to treat the beetles

    good luck
