Had a lovely dinner tonight. Did roasted taters (roosters), green beans, sauteed leeks and carrots with lamb. All except the lamb was home grown. So pleased with it!

It's been great going up to the lotty and coming back with a shopping bag of veggies.

Also harvested some red and green chillies and they're in the dehydrator. Got a jar full of dried cherry tomatoes too and they are delish! Really pleased with how the allotment is going.

It's great. I've got some fennel bulking up and seen a recipe for parmesan roasted fennel-sounds delish!

My freezer is also full of bags of chopped/sliced onions that I can just use when I need. Also got bags of chopped up rhubarb.

Garlic is all dried in the shed and got a store of bramley apples.

Spotted some ripened rose hips...so can make some more syrup this year too! :hapydancsmil:

Is it easy to grow @Snorky85 ? We have just started to cook a lot of it as it's so tasty, I was thinking about growing it next year. I would appreciate any tips.

REALLY EASY! literally just sowed the seeds into a drill made with my finger-sprinkled the seeds in, covered over and watered. Just left it to it's own devices!

@Snorky85 it is so nice to enjoy your own home grown produce with your meals and like you say it is probably only the meat part of it that we have have to buy:biggrin:

We recently had a nice 2 1/2 week holiday down in Somerset and took our own carrots, self set parsnips, peas, potato's,runner beans,French beans, apples, pears, plums, raspberries and strawberries.(I think that's the lot:biggrin:) and we only had to buy the meat part when we wasn't eating out:snorky: Good job we have a large fridge in our caravan and we also used cool bags fr storage:biggrin:

@Kandy wow! That is a great harvest. It feels so good when you can make a meal of all tour own produce. We're lucky too that we get our meat and eggs from the farm next door. So everything has been grown or raised within less than a sq mile!!

Yes I agree @Snorky85 the taste is much better from off of our own plots although I must confess that at times I have felt like packing in the allotment plots (37years we have had them for) but at least everything we grow is unsprayed and we will often visit farm shops for veggies we can't grow.I can't quiet give up meat though as I can't face just eating a plate of vegetables or fish:biggrin:

Loved seeing you on GW the other week with Carol and I kept saying to Mr Kandy that you were the lady off of GC so he saw you as well so to speak:biggrin:

The allotment is next on my list of tasks to tidy up...has been neglected except for harvesting the last few weeks!
