I've grown a vine on my back wall and planted various shrubs to the sides. There's no access behind this wall and there's a (rather not trample on) rockery in front of the wall with a pond in front of the rockery.

The plants are all pretty young so I've not had the task of pruning yet, but there will be a time when it'll need to be done but close access will be nigh impossible.

If you could get close, normal hedge trimmers and or shears would be the obvious choice.

Is there something that can quickly and easily prune shrubs and vines from a distance?

I've seen hedge trimmers on the end of a pole, is that the best choice?

Do you have any other ideas for this sort of problem?

    Thanks, Brind.

Yes but a bit expensive are the Wolf tools which have pruners and shears that can fit on handles of varying and variable lengths.

    The alternative is a ladder

I use a Wolf pruner on the 4mtr handle I made up, but I believe they now make an extra long handle. As I am now 81 I have to get assistance in lifting it to the required height.
