If you fill it with nothing but compost that will all break down and disappear and next year you will be repeating the job. You do need some good soil as a base material.

Whether to fill containers with compost or soil depends on what you are going to grow in them and for how long?

    Use 50/50 topsoil/compost.

If you have some well rotted manure then that would be very good for beans & pots.

I'm afraid you will have to change or add more compost each year, all organic material rots downs, eventually if you did nothing your container would just have the soil left in it and your plants would suffer in future years. The good thing is you only need to mix in a liittle every year.

Make sure you have good drainage in your containers.

Its compost by the way :thumb:
