    Afternoon,

I have signed up after never knowing about this site! I'm a keen young gardener and bought our house with only a turfed lawn. It's been a work in progress and I'll be sure to put up some pics of the developments over the last couple of years.

My question is one that's puzzled me, and I just can't find a reasonable product to assist here...

As you can see below, our neighbours and us went halves on a new wall. They aren't fussed on a trellis but when we agreed on the wall I stated I'd be putting up a trellis for security/privacy. I've planted a couple of Clematis Montana Mayleens at the base of the wall to get this progressing quickly!

Do you have any suggestions/ideas on how to mount/kits available to put up a kit and for it to look good? Any pics or help would be MUCH appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Sam

I hope I am not missing the point but why can't you buy a piece of trellis and just fix it to the wall?

Intention is to mount on "top" of the wall perhaps?

Is the low section of wall where you want the trellis, and is it only one brick thick?

Maybe fix the trellis half way up the wall then take it above the height of the wall. With some supports against the wall and trellis to stop the weight of the plants and wind taking it over.

I usually make my own trellis ,just get the baton packs, that gives you the option to make your own size's and its very much cheaper and stronger, then I would screw the posts to the wall and then fit the trellis to the posts:)A 6 x 6 ft trellis cost ready made approx £21 to make your own half the cost, hope this has helped:)

As an alternative to trellis you could string wires spaced at about 10cm. You'll still require supports but 5cm posts every few metres and fastened to the wall about half way down would do.

                    Thanks for advice so far!

I can indeed fit it on the wall but would ideally like it on the wall with no posts going down the brickwork.

It is one skin of bricks thick and I only want trellis on the low part of the wall

Love he curved trellis but haven't seen this in a height around 80cm? Also, what fixings would you suggest shiney?

                    Thanks again all

It's difficult to see but I think the smaller wall is only half a brick thick, I don't see it being strong enough to support itself never mind trellis, unless there are piers on the other side I can't see?

Zigs will be better able to advise.

Jwk. I can confirm there are piers tied in the other side.

                        "M10 zinc plated studding"

Doesn't state high tensile. Personally, M10 seems a bit light weight to withstand extreme wind.
Also it doesn't say about the fixings to go into the wall coming with them and they will be an extra expense.
