I spotted this plant by chance when doing another job in the border where the "Madame Lemoine" Lilac is and found it under it. I know I should know this one and it's frustrating when you know you know it but..........!!:snork: :dunno: Any ideas, gang?

You've got to be right, Madahhlia:thumbsup::snork: Well done!!!:ThankYou: I can go to sleep tonight without the thought buzzing around in my brain. I still can't remember buying or planting it, but then there's so many plants in the borders. At least where it is seems to be the right place for it, as it's shady and protected and in woodland conditions.

To be more exact, T.formosana. There are a number of named varieties (Dark Beauty, Purple Beauty etc.) that all look the same as this and each other.
It's the hardiest Tricyrtis and kept damp and with some shade will form a good clump.

Yes, I did, Jenny!!!:snooze: It would have been "rolling" around in my head all night if it hadn't been identified. Thank you again, maddahhlia:thumbsup:
You're right, Marley, it is a nice flower and I hope that it does well in the border. For some reason I had the name "Toad Flax" popping up every now and then, which of course it is not, but I was halfway there!!!
Well, although I garden on light sandy, but improved, the Trycirtis is in shade, and it has obviously lasted more than one season so there's every chance that it will do well in that spot.

We grow several different Tricyrtis without any problem.
They have formed large patches and flower really well.
Have tried Tricyrtis White Tower on 3 different occassions and each time lost it.
No idea why. Shame, it is a beauty.
