My mum is having problems with her TV. The signal cones through this dual cable into a Freesat Box. It is then connected via Hdmi cable to the TV. The Freesat box isn't working . Is there any way of connecting the dual cable directly to the TV. Any help would be grateful appreciated by both my mum and I.

Not unless the TV has a satellite tuner, the second cable is only useful if you have a twin tuner one cable is fine most of the time,

Whats the issue with the freesat box.

You can check the remote using a camera phone point the remote at the camera and press a button you should see it light up on phone screen if its working ok,

If it not the remote it sounds like its ready for the bin,

Look on your mums roof and see if she has a TV aerial (not dish) if she has follow the wire and plug it into the tv if its a newish tv it should have a freeview tuner ?, if not pick another freesat box up.

The house is a rented annex. The main house has Sky TV. The co ax cable doesn't work. We have a new TV at home. Would that be compatible? If not how do we get a new box. This one was already here.

The thing with proper freesat boxes there not that cheap, £60/£100 maybe, you can get a satellite box for about £15 but no channels are in order, you can spend time putting them where you want them but it time consuming, if your mums tv is getting on a bit you can pick a new 32 inch with freesat tuner for around £200,

If you tell me what option you want i can advise you further.

Ok good luck with it i presumed you've tried the obvious, unplugged it and plugged it back in this can solve many problems from time to time and checked remote batteries.

This is the new tv. It doesn’t look any different to the other one.

Are there any indoor aerials that are any good?
