    Hiya Ricky.
    No, the garage would remain as is on the ground floor. I would assume details of the footings and the build would be available from my local authority as I know I it went through planning, and therefore building regs would have applied?
    As I said, this isn’t under serious consideration at the moment, just something I might want to pursue in the future.
    No, I wouldn’t want to do the work myself, it’s bad enough just hanging a door! ;)

      You might be able to see you Building Regs plans if you call into the council they should show the details of cavities etc. I would ring first just in case they have funny hours or don't keep them on-site. I went in to see my old Planning Permission plans and had to book a microfiche reader. Also what was planned may not be what the builder actually did, the council should have inspected the foundations when they were dug and after they were poured.

      Might be quicker and easier to get your drill out ...
