So I rescued a badly overwatered christmas cactus from work a little under two weeks ago.

Its segments are thin, red-coloured, and drooping. It had very little roots left that weren't rotten, so after letting it dry out some I've added some rootgrow fungus to the soil as well as some general all-purpose fertilizer.

However, it's still not showing any signs of recovery. I'm reluctant to water it again since the rootball itself is still damp, but is there anything else I could be doing to boost it somewhat?

I would have removed all potting compost (maybe you did?) and what I couldn't remove I would then wrap in newspaper for a few days (change it necessary) to "wick" the water out.

You could water with dilute Hydrogen peroxide - the theory being that it introduces oxygen into the potting compost to assist the roots' recovery.

Succulents recover from this sort of over watering is a slow process, so maybe just leave it be. I would not have given it any fertiliser (roots will be fragile and could be burnt by fertiliser) until it had started to make new growth.

I would put in shade - the plant doesn't want to be wasting energy trying to reduce transpiration.

Pray / cross fingers is the only other import thing to be doing!
