I have no sympathy John. In my own family's experience it is always us females that get lumbered with the dodgy mother-in-law. :snorky:

Isn't that another good reason to garden? Use a looong hose to get your distance. Good time to dead head. Let those heads roll! Do you need a new, very deep bed?

Send her out into the garden to do all the tedious boring jobs that you keep putting off. For example removing couch grass, bind weed nettles roots and all; removing dandelions and plantains from the lawn, washing the plant pots etc. Then either go and work down the opposite end of the garden or go and visit a few nurseries/gardens.

            Oh, don't remind me!
I actually get on really well with my MiL, unlike my mother...

When she came to visit this summer, she was somewhat alarmed at the sight of our new cane fruit bed. A glance from an upstairs window, and it became clear. The bed is 7' long, and about 3' wide. It's only about 4' deep (filled with fresh horse manure), but I can see why she was a little nervous!

The deep beds a good idea. Wonder who I could put in the bottom.

My oh's mother was a pure nutter. I mean really. :yikes:So you can't imagine how happy I was to find out that he was adopted and not from that gene pool !

My former MILs were lovely ladies. Don't know how they managed to raise total jerks :heehee:

Mr "M"'s mother was a spiteful soul; she simply couldn't help herself! Ah well, at least she was ... consistent. :heehee:

I was lucky and adored my MiL. She was good looking and glamorous even into her 80s and I used to 'appropriate' some of her clothes! If I even said I liked a particular item .... When she died she left me equal to her son with which I had our outdoor living room built with deck on top ... so I always have a lovely reminder of her love and generosity. She was a gift sent from heaven having lost my mother when I was seven. :imphrt:

And I adored my FiL also ... had more time for me than my own father.

Guess I am one of the truly lucky ones.
