Kedi, the second one is not a Bottlebrush, it does look like one as it is from the same family, but I think it is Metrosideros, could be Excelsa,, also know as the New Zealand Christmas Tree or Spring Fire. ;)

Hi, strongy ... it's my fault Sis said Callistemon because she asked me first by e-mail ... but I thought it looked "odd" and did a bit of research but couldn't come up with anything. I did say to Sis that the leaves were not right and sent her a link.

I have the NZCT in my book so I'll look tomorrow again but I thought it too "spiny" for what Sis's pic was.

By the way, Sis, red peppers always grow on trees ... don't know about white and black actually. [IMG]

Thanks for the proper ID, strongy. I've edited it in.

I like the common names, the Spring Fire one has quite taken my fancy!

Oh, we crossed replies, Sis, happened while I was editing. Ne'er mind! I'm grateful for everyones help in ID-ing. If it wasn't for yall, then I wouldn't know the names of half of the things - thanks everyone!

It was the leaves and flowers, the leaves were too wide and the flowers were all upward facing whereas Calistemon (and Melalueca) are cylindrical.

I didn't spot that strongy, but now you say it......

I was unsure about the livingstone daisy as such, but I'm sure its probably a mesem. of some kind.
Is that pepper tree leaf right LoL?
Mine are out in the frost at the moment, I'm hoping they will survive, I've got a couple undercover for insurance.

    Morning, guys. [IMG]

You are spot on with the M excelsa, strongy. I didn't think of it as it's a tree to 20 metres and I though Sis had photographed a shrub ... but I knew the leaves weren't right. [IMG]

pete, I also told Sis I wasn't sure it was a Livingstone Daisy ... I'd like to see the leaves better. Sis ????

Re the pepper trees ... I believe it is S terebinthifolius (the Brazilian pepper) ...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schinus

... which is what we supposedly grow here, but all I've seen (as you correctly ID'd and now have) is the S molle (the Peruvian pepper) ...

Oh, you just wanted to show this beauty off! [IMG]

I go back to my original thought to you of Lampranthus ... but I don't know this colour ... I've got purple, orange, yellow and wine-coloured.
