VERY BASIC QUESTION

    I have a patio container rose, and have noticed some branches have 7 leaves, I thought they should have 5 ?
    They are coming from above the crown, so assume these are not runners.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Earthy

    Many moons ago anything with more than 5 leaves was classed as from the root stock "sucker" but new varieties of roses can have from 6 upwards so I wouldn't worry and with you saying its growing from the top and not from the base will be fine.
