        James Grieve are one of the best, you don't see them in the shops.
        Apart from eating straight from the tree, they make a tremendous apple pie/crumble. Whereas the Bramley needs lots of sugar to balance the sharpness, J Greives need a lot less but still hold their shape when cooking..
        I wouldn't want to lose mine.

          Can I just say, Bramleys are picked far too early mostly, when ripe you can eat them straight off the tree, in october.:biggrin:
