Although undoubtedly some England fans are to blame, the Russian fans (and some locals) have been equally if not more culpable and from what I've seen/read it was them who started the trouble before the match. I can't believe the stupidity of the Russians letting off flares (and apparently a stun grenade or something similar which made a big bang) inside the stadium, jumping over barriers and attacking England fans which led to a stampede. We all know how catastrophic that can be. No police or stewards in sight and the fans were only separated by some seats with tarpaulin over them. It's truly sickening.

It was a absolute disgrace and ruined what was a good game of football. Hopefully all the innocent bystanders are OK.

I just dont understand why some so called football fans have to have a fight.
I'm a keen rugby league supporter and travelled to games all over, rugby fans all get on together even England and Austrailian fans having a beer and a joke together.

Yes I remember that, one of the Salford players had one of the idiots by the throut it was shown on north west tv, that was a one off.
I took my son when he was 2 years old to a England v Austrailia match, the Aussie fans thought it was great, one of them gave him a Aussie rugby shirt.
There is no crowd segregation fans are all together

Russia is facing a UEFA investigation. They'll probably get fined but I doubt they'll get chucked out (unfortunately).

I'm guessing that most of the Russians were on performance enhancing drugs.
                    Probably the supporters as well.:snork:
