On XP in the Folders drop down Menu there was a 'Move' option. One selcedted what one wanted to move. The Menu allowed you to find the folder and then one could repeat the action if need be.
So on W7 the word 'Move' does not appear. How then do I move a folder (or a file) to another folder?
I do not want to Copy, just the move the whole thing.
I have looked in Help and it is about as much use as a set of Ikea furntiure instructions. So, please VERY simple steps
    TIA.

Depending on how your setup within your folders..

    Can you see "File/Edit/View/Tools/Help" menu?

If you cannot see the above, click "Organise" then layout and put a tick next to "Menu Bar".

Now simply select the file you want to move and go to "Edit" and click either "Copy to Folder" or "Move to Folder"

    Steve...:)

Not sure if this will work in W7, but have you tried right clicking and then drag and drop?

That does work in W7 However, I have a huge number of Folders of photos which I am trying to rationalise and it is very slow to have to scroll down the list to find the one I want to move a file into.
Move allows me to repeat the action as often as I want by retaining the last location a file was moved to.
Steve I have been reading through the Forums in the Link you sent. Very interesting for anyone with W7.

The quickest way I know is this.

Open two explorer windows, one is where your files are now, the other is the folder you want the files moving to. Select the file(s) you want to move, the just drag them across OR hit CTRL+X, then click in the destination folder and hit CTRL+V.

Some selection short cuts are these:

    * Select a single file - click it once with the mouse
    * Select a range of files - click the first file in the range, hold down SHIFT then click the last one in the range.
    * Select multiple where they are not in a continuous range - click the first file, then hold down CTRL and click the others.
    * Select everything in the folder - press CTRL+A

Still a lot slower than using the Move command, especially when moving a lot of files from different places into a single folder.
