Scotkat, they are beautiful. Did you do anything special to the soil for the helabores? I have two, the Niger (I think, its white and should flower at Christmas) and the lenten rose, but the christmas one didn't flower this year and the lenten rose never flowered at all last year.

No Papajo except before planting raised bed and containers top dressed with fresh soil.Thankyou for your nice comment.

But not under shrubs where I am trying to make a woodland garden.

Give them time as sometimes in first yr dont bloom but normally mine bloom around now.

Hi, I was going to leave them for another season. I had bought them because I thought it would be nice to get some colour this time of year. It must have been nice when you discovered yours just about to bloom. I worked on the philosophy of 'bung them in and see what happens'. I find it is the quickest way to learn, but have had loads of disappointments. I wasnt sure if the was the wet weather that caused the problems or poor drainage, but I have mine in both a container and a raised bed with top soil. Oh well, maybe next year!

I agree with the guys Scotkat your plants do indeed look lovely...I must admit I had to look twice at your first pictures as I thought you still had snow! :D

It does give you a right buzz and a warm happy feeling inside (or is that just my ovaltine  )when you first spy your spring bulbs and plants shooting up.Hel.xxx.

Away now to take my containers in to my green house to give a tidy plants have been knocked about by the wind.

Got smaller ones with dwarf daffodils round back so shall move to front to add some spring cheer if it stays dry long enough .

I like them like this, they look weathered.
I am sure some water water, a bit of washing up liquid and a scrubbing brush will get it off.
