I am planning to plant some wallflowers from seed. Because wallflowers are bi-annual and flower every two years, would it be OK to plant another batch next year so that I will end up with wallflowers flowering every year? Hope this question isn't silly.

No question is silly. Wallflowers are among my favourites. I take cuttings. If there is a bad year I do buy more seed

Biennial means you sow one year to flower the next and every subsequent year, then if the plants are worth keeping you can save them by pruning them hard after they've flowered otherwise they tend to get leggy.

Or you could go with one of the perennial species such as E.bicolor. Bowles Mauve is available in most GCs and is in bloom all year except for the very depths of winter. I have one in quite heavy shade and it has been in bloom for about a month now.

You plant them in year one and they will flower in year two, I started some a few years
ago in about July and plated them out in October and they flowered the following
spring,,,,,once they have flowered cut them back hard.
