Did anyone hear a loud rumble/roar about 10 mins ago? The house even shook... Could have been a sonic boom?

It really was quite startling... It started and gradually got louder. At first I thought earthquake but earthquake shakes rather than vibrates!

Don't think I heard anything here Stephen but when I used to live in Cheshire I heard them quite frequently, I'm sure military aircraft are tested in the area, I've seen a few reports on it before, some suggesting that they are top secret aircraft that fly from the USA to the west coast of the UK and then back again. I don't know how much truth there is in it or if its all tall tales?

I believe there was widespread reports of sonic booms last year around Shropshire with reports of smashed windows. Apparently it was found out there was training aircraft in the area at the time but the ministry of defence denied it so no idea really?

When I lived in Dumfries and Galloway, we used to get the low flying jets quite often (and I mean really low), which would rumble and vibrate the house in the way you describe, so its almost certainly been a military aircraft.

The flat that we lived in down here (left there four-five years ago now), was right under the flight path for Concorde - now that was a noisy blighter that used to shake the place something terrible; we couldn't put pictures up unless they were on larger hooks as they would simply be shaken off the walls.

Despite that, I used to love seeing Concorde go over, and would always stop whatever I was doing to watch her fly away.

I'm pretty sure I've heard a sonic boom a couple of times at least. Always in areas where the RAF do lots of training, even though they're not meant to go supersonic over land. One time when I was staying in a lodge in the middle of nowhere, all was quite, then literally the windows nearly burst out and I'm sure my bones rattled. I looked out the window just in time to see two fighter jets canining it along at insane speed.

I used to live under the flight path of Concorde in the 70s as it went west over Wales. When you heard the boom it almost felt like it was stopping your heart, it wasn't just a sound, you felt it in your body. Then there was a moment of terror before realising what it was.

My dad claimed it could cause sheep to spontaneously abort - and he didn't claim things without a reason.

Was that the sort of sound you heard?

It may not have been a sonic boom actually as I didn't feel it like infrasound.. but it was loud and did vibrate quite drastically.. it could well have been a fighter jet.. but it's very unusual to get them around these parts.. although they do fly over North Wales frequently, going to and from Valley Airfield.

I haven't felt or heard anything here so I think your fighter plane theory is very possible.
