Granted there are some idiots who con't take care or have any courtesy when fishing from shore/harbours/piers but it isn't one sided as you know, Ziggy. I've seen power boats and sail boats knowingly go through an area where people are fishing with complete disregard to lines and the damage that can be done to kit. There will always be areas where anglers and boats don't mix:what::rolleyespink::D

Too true my friend, an on going problem.

I was fishing with 2 rods on the end of West Bay pier some years back, unfortunately the wind was blowing and I didn't hear the trawler coming out of the harbour.

First I knew about it was the first rod jumping off the rod rest into the water, followed by line spooling off the second one, which I grabbed, desparately trying to tighten the drag off and go for a break before that one got pulled in too.

I managed to snap the line just before it ran out.

When the boat had gone, I could see my first rod floating about 300 yards out so borrowed a dingy to go out and get it.

Got turned over by the waves & thrown out of the dingy. As I dragged my soaking body back out (Yes, I was fully clothed:DOH:) I found my mate had blagged a ride from a speed boat and was happily back on the pier with my rod:heehee:

When we reeled in the tackle, it even had the snapped off tackle from the first rod tangled up with it, so, apart from a good soaking, all was well:yess:

The one thing I remember from Watchet, when the kids were young, was a Pub that served really good Rabbit Stew.
Have you ever tried to enjoy your meal with a Kiddie either side + OH saying things like:-
        i. Have you found a fluffy tail?
        ii. whats his name?
iii. Ah, I wonder if it looked like Cornflake> (our pet Rabbit at the time) -
and probably a dozen other bits of useless banter.

Get the idea - It wasn't the most enjoyable meal - but there was nothing wrong with the Stew.:gaagh:

I had similar in Ibiza on "Tourist Day" All the local workers go out at the end of the season for a drink & a meal. I used to eat land animals then & chose the Rabbit. Got all sorts of fluffy bunny comments until it was served up. Suprising how many people wanted a taste:DOH:

It's always thought it looked rather snaggy for fishing off the East Pier. I'd be more interested in the apple trees growing wild up the slope above there.

Funnily enough I always keep one of these in the car:

Being frugal I save myself the expense of buying separate tables for Chesil and add 30 mins to the Watchet times.

I may have hooked a bigger one than that - I had the Shoreham Harbour dredger (converted tug) on for a short time before I decided I'd better go for the break.
