    Can anyone please help identify these weeds so that I can hopefully determine the best course of action to remove them?

    It appears to be a very vigorous grass.
    Grasses are hard to id and ideally would need sharp clear pics to show the seed head.

    I'll take some shortly and post them. When I've tried to dig a couple up previously they do seem to have taken a very firm grip of the ground (which is surprising as we have such a battered and bruised lawn due to poor drainage with clay soil)
