Hi, I’m new to gardening and wondered if anyone could shed any light on what this is?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Cs86, :sign0016:

My old eyes fail me, but at a glance it looks like Ivy. Is it making long, flexible stems with the leaves sprouting from the stems as they grow?

The stems are very flexible yes. Not sure on the leaf sprouts as it’s too dark to check now!ha.
The other thing is, it did flower a white flower earlier in the year if this helps?
    Thanks

Is it a clumping plant or a spreading plant and how tall.. Were they single white flowers or a flower spike.?

It was single white flowers when it flowered.
It’s about 50cm tall currently but I would say it is trying to grow outwards.
I’ve added a couple more images also.

    Thanks guys

          Interesting.
Cs86 Please can you say where this is growing?
Was it something you planted..or did you just find it?
It looks like a dark shaded bed.
Very odd...first pic the leaves appear to be shiny.
          2nd and 3rd they look matt...and hairy.
This congested plant is not making any attempt to grow taller.

Just 18"/50 cm? Surely Lavatera would be growing taller?
Would it have already flowered before June?

To be honest it looks like a weed...but which one????

I would love to see a clear pic to show the flower.
When it flowers do please add a pic to this thread.
          Until then I am stuck.

It had rained heavily before i took the first picture, so may explain the dark bed and shiny leaves. I took the others this morning when they were dry.
It is growing in my garden at the bottom of an old wall.
The story behind this is, that I bought a few to go at the bottom of the wall for them to eventually cover it. I planted them a couple of years ago all from mixed established garden shrubs. However I wasn’t sure if this was one of them. Embarrassing I know.☺️.
If and when it flowers again, I will update. But for now I will keep it there.

Thanks everyone for your kind help
