Weigela - shaping it

    my grandma req me this bit if weigela from a branch on hers. I want to plant it now but its a bit if a mess looking. How can i tidy it up to make it grow its a better shape? Is it just a case of pruning or will that ruin it?

    Snorky, forget pruning for flowering ....just tidy the plant for balance. I would cut back all the long shoots for shape and to encourage density. So no, pruning will not “ruin” it.
    It won’t like being in that pot for too long though....basically a shrub for the open ground.....but I would feed and mulch it for the summer :)

      Thanks Verdun. That’s exactly what I wanted to do-thanks for confirming. Yes-it’s getting planted in the garden but didnt want to plant it over winter so will get t in the ground asap :)
