Black Nightshade, Solanum Nigrum. Its not that poisonous, in fact there is a variety that you can make stuff out of, think its called something like Var, guiness or something.

You can compost it, but the seeds will keep coming back if the heap doesn't get hot enough.

Yes, its a solanum, otherwise known as deadly nightshade. Cannot remember the name of the actual plant in the solanum greoup it belongs to. Sometimes called Belladonna.

Oh I see while I was dithering here you have already got some answers.

Deadly Nightshade is a lot bigger. Black nightshade is a very common weed of cultivated ground. Woody Nightshade is more common on roadsides & railway banks, it has pretty purple flowers followed by actractive red berries.

Do you know, in all my years of Botinating, i've never found a Deadly Nightshade:doh:

Thank you, all :dbgrtmb: First time in my life I've ever come across one. It has now been yanked but not before I educated the family on what it looks like, what it is and why it is not permitted in our garden.

Cheeky 18yo told his Dad to be careful of eating any home cooked grub over the next few day ... particularly if he's upset me for any reason :heehee:
