    I've been trying to log in for the past month or so (at least it feels like it) and have been told my IP address was banned. I couldn't even contact admin about it, again because my IP address was banned.

    Can someone tell me what happened please?

    Oh blimey Jane,

    Sorry about that, we've been having problems with certain folk using the forum as a chat room, you must have a shared IP with one of them.

    I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I was away last month.Mr Kandy managed to tether my phone to my new iPad so I could access the Internet through the phone as the caravan site wi FI is pretty well hit or miss and I wanted to log on here to Hank everyone for my birthday wishes.

    Anyway when I tried to log on I got the same message as you Jane and thought I had been banned due to heavy disscussions on one of the threads.When I got back home and tried it everything was back to normal and have been able to post ok ever since.Not sure what had gone on but glad i wasn't the only one.

      I'll have a word in the office later and sort things out, I've unblocked @Jungle Jane last 3 ip's for now. Limited internet for me at the mo though, back later.

        All, I have bounced this into the office for further investigation. As @Zigs rightly said, we have had some trouble recently with a select band of people misusing GC resources which has resulted in some IP addresses being banned - sadly, there are many ISP's that use dynamic IP address allocation which has led to a situation where you have been allocated one of those IP addresses that had previously been banned.

        @Jungle Jane - I will go through your IP address history later this afternoon, and double check that none of them are on the banned list. It would help us greatly if you could tell us who your ISP is, and if you were using your normal ISP when you couldn't get onto GC?

        @Kandy - I will do the same for you too, and like wise it would help if you could tell us when the problem occurred, and what ISP you were using at the time - particularly so as it was mobile (I am guessing Three or O2?)

            @Jungle Jane & @Kandy - I have backtracked all of the IP addresses that you have used in the past year, and made doubly sure that none of them are on the banned IP address list.

            We are working on a fix that will allow you to contact us directly should you have any problems in the future.

                    Please may I suggest that the 'donations' thread is brought to everyone's attention again?? Sorry to be so forward, but the admin team are brilliant & spend there own time keeping the forum going :dbgrtmb:, if we could all pop a few pounds into the pot it would help to keep the forum going & pay for any costs which arise from this problem & others in the future! :thumbsup:
