What is eating my Lupin flowers?

Something is stripping just the flower buds from the bottom of the stalk and working its way upwards?? What could it be and what should I do? (once I stop crying and swearing)

 

@cindy Can't you post a photo of the damage, Cindy? Perhaps it will make it easier for others here to identify.

 

Snails I think Nikalaos.....go visit with a torch tonight
At this time of the summer small snails often hatch out among lupins and eat voraciously.
