    Hello
My brother in law sent me this picture of these gorgeous flowers in Thailand. I haven't been able to identify them. My plant identifier app came up with common daisy
    Any ideas
    Cheers

Hello Gilly31 and welcome to GC.

I believe it is Callistephus chinensis the China Aster, very pretty.

I think it could be either, or even a form of Chrysanthemum.
But the picture looks like its a bit unreal to me.

I thought Chrysanth also. I think the pic is off a pack of seeds perhaps.

The petals look to be actually tubular.

From Garden Seeds Market ... "Pink needle-petal china aster is a great companion for "Princess" asters with flower heads consisting of tubular flowers."

Think we need @Silver surfer here.

                    Are these artificial flowers?

After looking more closely at them I must admit they look a bit rubbery ...
but the petals also look tubular

I would say no. These flowers, well China Asters, were very popular when I lived in Alabama in the 60s and 70s ... I do know them.

I've just looked up China asters and they are basically what I used to grow as garden asters, as bedding plants.
They dont look quite the same as the picture.

I googled a bit and this particular photo is coming up a lot in Twitter and Instagram so it could well be that @Gilly31 's BIL came across the image and wanted to delight Gilly rather than taking the picture himself. Very kind gesture, it's a lovely photo and flower :)

Search on similar pictures seems to suggest Bellis and the foliage just visible in the photo does look like Bellis.
