    Hi All,

I want to plant my marjoram (Origanum vulgare) plants on the periphery of my butterfly-friendly border. Can I simply plant them into some MPC once I've dug out the heavy clay soil? I understand they're not particularly hungry plants, so shouldn't need feeding. What about drainage, I know they hate being waterlogged so will they be OK in MPC or should I mix in a little grit?

    Many thanks,

    Nick

I’d mix in a little grit, @Nikolaos, and maybe even plant on top of a slight mound, if you have heavy clay soil? That way the planting hole is not at risk of filling with water...

If it helps, marjoram grows like a weed in my sand - so they thrive in good drainage!

@Sian in Belgium Thanks very much for that, Sian! :) I think I'll dig down deep and perforate the planting hole with a fork rather than planting on a mound. I'll also add plenty of grit.
