Hi all I am new to the site looking for some advice on what I can plant now to try and add some colour to my garden, just moved to a new house and would like to add colour, around the edges of a grassed area.
    Thanks
    Bill

Can you post a photo Billozz?
Plus soil info ...does it drain well, hold moisture? Acid or alkaline?
Is the site warm or cold? Exposed or sheltered?:)

Sorry I don't know the answer to those questions because I've just moved in.

Hi @Billozz - welcome! I think one of the nice admins should be able to help with the photo eg @wiseowl . But to start, can you please say roughly where this new house is? Is it UK or elsewhere? North of Scotland braving the elements, or lovely and mild in Cornwall?
In the short term, you can add temporary colour by buying annual bedding plants, and putting them in large pots if you cannot start work on the soil - that way it doesn't matter what the soil is. Then, when you are a bit more settled, have a look in neighbours' gardens to see what does well, and ask them about it. It helps you to make local contacts!
