    Hi There,

Last year we seemed to get loads of these (see attached image), particularly on Raspberry's and runner beans.
This one is on Mint and the first seen this year.

I'm presently intending a physical removal approach hoping this will keep them under control.

    Thanks
    Stuart

Looks like a Brown Shield Bug.

I think one of the Wildlife Trusts have produced a good guide to the various species, might have been Norfolk or Suffolk.

It's a shield bug, also known as stink bug. Would need a better photograph to identify more exactly. See here British Bugs Gallery Pentatomoidea - Shieldbugs you may spot yours.
Stink bug because many species secrete a yellowish foul smelling and tasting liquid when attacked. Can linger even after washing. You may want to consider disposable gloves if removing physically.
I get some every year, not enough to make me consider control measures though.
Like all sap sucking insects that can transmit viruses to plants.

It's a shield bug, they always like to bite me so I keep well away from it.

            Just leave them be.
They don't hurt you or your plants. If you want to get rid of them, wait for winter, cut your runner beans and raspberries down to the ground and whatever is living in them will disappear.
