    Hi,

My friend is asking what is eating his strawberry? He thinks a slug, but I'm wondering birds. Any ideas?

Thanks @Jiffy He thinks there's a wasp nest near by, so could be wasps then. Would fruit netting be any use?

My next door neighbour has had a similar problem, it turns out to be a blackbird in his case.

Looks like slug or snail damage as some of ours look like that over at our allotment. It has been such a wet year that slugs and snails are having a field day noshing on everything:sad:

My vote, for what its worth is slugs.
If the strawberries are on straw or even pieces of wood etc. the blighters hide under it during the day and come out at night.

They were the reason I never wanted another pergola in my garden ;) It looked gorgeous all covered in plants; horrendous underneath when you could see all the slugs enjoying the cool shady greenery. Couldn't enjoy a cuppa for fear one of them would fall down into it :eeew:

Even more worrying if you leave a glass of beer lying around, they might mistake it for a slug trap and decide to do the honourable thing.:ccheers::yikes:
