I must be about the same age as you, as I remember the Sony Walkman phase. I agree, kids now are just the same as we were then. And weren't we little sods.

its not only teenagers or the 'yoof' of society.

a few weeks back, mrs Al, myself and our (nearly) 3 year old went to chester zoo for the day. now our little 'un is very polite, always says please and thankyou and if he can manage, push open doors for people.

the 3 of us were on the monorail, along with school kids on a day out and some oap's and on leaving the monorail our little one ran down the slipway to the gate at the bottom and pushed it open and stood there so everyone could walk through. NOT ONCE did any of the seniors say thank you!! but everyone of the school kids did. i was gobsmacked. i did say something to them but they just looked and said nothing in reply. ignorant, selfish and rude was 3 of the words i used.

That's terrible  . Us pensioners are quick to moan but we should be just as quick to give thanks. Apologies from the wrinkly brigade! :love30:

When I ran my business, politeness was one of the most important rules. Everyone had to say good morning when they arrived and goodnight when they left. Even when telling an apprentice to do something for them a senior member of staff had to finish the sentence with a 'please' and then say 'thank you' when they had done it. It didn't matter that the apprentice was there to do that job. Politeness costs nothing.

Well said. Do you fancy becoming a management consultant and having a word with some of the gaffers I've known over the years.
