Perhaps you and Longk may or may not agree Eve. I was always led to believe that Jonquils have multi headed flower stems and are perfumed where as the rest of the Narcissus family, Daffs etc. aren't usually, but do have exceptions.

No, I'm happy to be educated Sheal. It was only a couple of years ago I'd have called the whole lot of them daffs. I've learnt such a lot since I've been coming on here and am grateful to benefit from everyone's expertise and knowledge

A few links. The PBS site is especially good for all bulbous and tuberous plants.

What about TĂȘte a tĂȘte, they're a miniature multiheaded scented daffodil. The ones in your pic look like Bridal Crown to me.

I did say there were exceptions Anthony. :) I would call 'Tete a Tete' a daffodil, Jonquils tend to have flatter trumpet features. We could argue these points for some while and because the Narcissus species is so large I don't think it's easily definable for any of us. :)

I'm not going to argue with you, I just think we should call a narcissi a narcissi

We'll blame the growers then, why do they have to make things so complicated for us gardeners? :heehee:

Tell me about it. I specialise in Fuchsias and one of my favourites is Delta's Sarah, I've seen it labelled as Delta's Sarah, Delta's Blue, Blue Sarah and Sarah's Blue. I think there should be some sort of Name protection/copyright law made after all you wouldn't be allowed to sell for example a tin of Heinz baked beans under a different name.

I had to go and check that one out Anthony. The images show as many shades of blue as it has names. :heehee: It's really not worth buying a plant these days unless you can see it in bloom, in the flesh so to speak, I've made that mistake to often in the past!

She's a bit arthritic but full of spirit. She has just had a scrap with Salem who is half her age and twice her size!

Our garden is always slow to get going because we're so exposed but things are starting to move now.

Can't remember the name of this

It's interesting that some people say the words mean 'Flight of the butterflies' whereas other translations say 'Dance of the princess'. A Japanese friend of ours says that they're trying to make a fancy meaning to it and it simply means 'dancer'.

Cowslips and primroses are coming out everywhere. I may take some more shots of these around the garden
