        Nothing wrong with that :)

It hasn't really been a Good Do'er for me ... not sure I'll bother to give it border-ing and lodgings next year ...

Same here, I'll not bother again. I thought they would be much bigger, ah well.

The hosta flowers are suffering a bit in the heat (aren't we all?)

There are about six in flower at the moment and another 100, or so, buds that are looking good.

The heat today has brought out all the pollen lovers and there seem to be millions of pollen beetles around!

@shiney what's the yellow flower with the bee in the centre please? They look lovely and summery and anything the bees like is fine by me! :) Oh and the purple flowers too? They look like long purple fingers, lol. What are they please? :)

@Fern4 The yellow is Inula barbarta and can form clumps as small or as large as you let it

                    P1130375.jpg

The purple is Veronicastrum and is a lovely plant but can take up more space. It grows up to 7ft high and spreads out quite a bit.

When the flowers start to sprout it is still quite a striking architectural shape
                    P1170573.jpg

The leaves are an important part of its attractiveness
                    P1170645.jpg

Unless you tie the plant in it can flop around a bit if there's heavy rain. As the flower heads get quite big they tend to make the stems splay outwards.

Thanks @shiney ....Inula barbarta is definately something for me to think about for next year. Veronicastrum might be a bit big for my garden. It's a stunning plant though. :blue thumb:

Pity you don' t live closer to me as I have just dug up a huge clump of Inula Barbarta. I gave some to a neighbour but the rest is on the compost heap, you'd have been more than welcome to it. It's a great plant it's just I have too much of it.
