A bit more colour in the borders.

My favourite old rose in the garden as it gives different coloured flowers in the same spray as they age, Rose Masquerade.

My Clematis "Armandii" is supposed to be a Spring flower type but here it is flowering as it climbs through the Acer Brilliantissimum:dunno::scratch:

My Dahlias and Salvias look amazing, and the Delphiniums I cut down after flowering are about 90% as good as their first flowering (which I was not expecting)

We visited a friend's garden in the Lake District. It's a small, walled garden and it's full of colour. He certainly likes his dahlias but has lots of other very nice plants.

How far did you cut them back Kristen? did you cut any right back to the ground?

Mine have finished now and looking sorry for themselves but the one plant I cut right back has bushed up well but I doubt it will flower now.

Yup, right back to the ground, except that a couple of the plants already had some new young growth at the base, and I left that be (and at a guess those are the ones that are now flowering best - I didn't actually log which-was-which, but certainly the best-flowering-one, now, definitely had some young growth)

I fertilised generously and watered well when I cut them back, and have watered periodically since, which might have made a difference.
