When should i bring my brug inside

As its getting colder i thought i better ask when is the best time to bring my brug indoors for winter?

Also this is the only space i have to put it in the house do you think it will be ok? Its kind of in shade but there is a window behind me altho it doesn't let much light in.

 

It can stay out until we start getting night temp of 3C or so, they always seem to enjoy the cooler temperatures at the back end of the season.

Then you will need to cut it back presumably to get it inside.
And dry the roots out a bit.

Really they dont want it warm in winter when light levels are low, so you might have to play it by ear a bit.

It was happy last year in my kitchen but it was right in the south facing window its just a tad tall for that space now and the bin lives there lol its quite hot in that bit and cooler where it is going this year.

It doesnt need to be cut to be bought it i only got it last year so its still not that big

 

@pete with regards to watering in winter should i be keeping it fairly dry and only water so it doesnt dry out competely?

 

Yep, just damp.
Being indoors I'm guessing you will need to water it some, I keep mine in the garage, where they drop their leaves, so dont actually water at all.

 

Ahhh see this is when i wish i had a garage and most stuff on the internet says to stick it in a garage.

Last year i just watered it when i remembered and filled the saucer up rather than water from the top so that it only took what was needed.

Im not very good with house plants most of them die

 

I am going to take cuttings, just in case mine don't survive the winter.

 

I grew 3 Iochroma Australis this year, they are about 3ft tall, but I have not
had any flowers this year. I presume I treat them as normal Brugmansia's ?

 

Yes. Plant the biggest one out next spring in a sheltered well drained spot.

 

Not actually Brugs, and as longk says, quite a bit hardier.
