Hi - I wondered if you could help point me in the right direction?!

I'm from Ireland and want to employ an experienced estate gardener to come and work on a large estate in the West of Ireland. I have no idea where to start looking for such a person. Can any of you help me? Should I be advertising in a magazine or is there a specific agency in the UK that deals with this?

    Sorry for all the questions!

Yes, I think the RHS would be the place to ask. I know this might sound a bit strange but you could also ring the Estate Manager at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, which belongs the Duke of Bedford, they can be very helpful. The reason I'm suggesting this "off the road" enquiry is because my family has long been connected with that particular estate in that area and they could help point you in a particular direction. Good luck.

The Lady would be my starting point too. Pity its so far away, otherwise I would be applying. I used to be an Estate Gardener at Braboeuf Manor. Looking after 23 Acres.

    Loved the job.

    I have Paula,

But I think this post sounds a little more permanent.

Any possiblity that I could start next month Little Rose ?

If you want to see my history, there is a full years worth available to view on this forum and a further 10 years on http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/forums.html

Please have a look at my website too, in the first link of my signature.

I worked directly under the head gardener at Brabouef Manor and was responsable for the upkeep of 23 acres of parkland, ornamental gardens, croquet lawns and ornamental ponds.

My team also tended the victorian sunken gardens (mainly bedding and roses) and tended the walled fruit gardens(figs a speciality)
