Hello! Hoping for some advice before we tackle our back garden. We have just completed an extension which was built over a patio area. Garden stepped up onto lawned area. The patia area did seem to gather a lot of rain water in one corner previously so I’m worried if we have drainage issue. We would simply like to now create a small paved area outside the back of the house with a wall and step up to the (small lawned area). Do we need to consider drainage?? Please see pics and any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi @MargaretW and welcome! It could be that your patio had dropped slightly in that one corner. or that it was getting run off from an adjacent area - if the soil was compacted then that could occur. Wait for the next downpour and see what happens - where it pools, how fast it drains etc. If it looks as though the runoff will end up on the paved area, you may have to dig a trough filled with gravel to direct rainwater away.
