I'm suprised at that Makka, did you have any problems with the other crops you used the manure on ?
    .

    Definately not :dbgrtmb:.

    Have got my seed now!

    6kgs of Dunluce
    3kgs of Sante
    1kg of Valour

    and 4 sets each of

    Winston
    Rooster (only for roasting)
    Ratte
    Anya
    Belle de Fonteney

Have already set up 9 Dunluce in single pots with Wickes compost to get them started for hopefully an early, early crop of new potatoes!

    Cheers

Have just tried to par boil king edwards before roasting them. They were only in for about 5 mins & turned to mash:DOH:

Maybe manure is too strong for spuds then, I expect Kristan will come in with a complete NPK comparison between manure & compost now.

Me, i'll just stick to me sawdust & pheasant poo:)

I've always par boiled King Eddies before roasting, drained the water, pan back on heat to steam off then rough up by shaking around the pan. Add your chosen fat, s&p, into hot tray..toss again..into oven for 45 mins to 1 hour.

If your eddies are turning to mush after 5 mins, they are either too small or your timing is incorrect. Par boiled decent sized (size of a lime or bigger) will take around 7-8 mins of boiling before being ready to drain. However it is a fine line easily crossed, to test if ready, poke with a sharp knife, when the pottato just starts to slide of the knife they are ready to be drained, and thats the real test better than timing, another few mins longer they will be mush.

    Steve...:)

A bit late in reply I know but yes ziggy, the allotment is still a possibility :)

I've just "bordeauxed" just about every living thing in my garden, Jeyes'd my greenhouses and spent hours "pot washing".

I'm not going to fungicide my spuds, they either come good or suffer! They will be planted on their own away from any other spuds, win or lose I can't complain cos they cost me Zilch!

My Kelsae Onions on the other hand! Well protected and well away from my veggie patch, will be making a 2nd sowing during the week although I have 50+ seedlings already :)
