Which soil for violas?

    I am planting my violas in tubs, which is the best soil to use? I was going to use a mix of 50/50 J.I.No.2 and multi purpose, what do you reckon is best? :)

      My violas aren't doing very well. I planted them in MPC but I think it might have something to do with the slugs. :th scifD36:

      I think they grow in almost any type of compost, but for overwintering a bit of added grit or sand might help the drainage.

        I plant them in MPC with mixed in perlite and a little grit to 'loosen' the mix and help with drainage, basically trying to avoid that chance of them sitting in soggy cold compost through the winter :)

        I don't think they're very fussy Val. They grew like weeds in a previous garden of mine (clay soil), I couldn't get rid of them!
