first off, hello newbie here :D

now onto the question, we put a new lawn down a few years back now with seed etc, over the past year or 2 I have noticed more and more wide blade grass appearing, how can I get rid of it as its unsightly.

    thanks in advance

thanks for that, I had a feeling digging it out may have been the option, looks like the lawn will look like a mess over autumn/winter then with all the digging & reseeding i'm going to have to do ha ha.

I use a cylinder mower and cut the grass to approx 12mm which helps to keep it at bay!

Wouldn't recommend this though unless you really want a first rate lawn.

would love a cylinder, but front garden is about 10foot higher than the rear so steps between the 2, and there's a couple of steps between the rear garden and garage, so would do my back in trying to lift the mower around ha ha.

Just as an FYI for everyone else. Cutting your lawn that short is the quickest way to ruin it. Cutting off all the leaves of any plant (which is what you're doing to the grass) will only weaken it over and over again until thins and dies ... that is unless you've got a specific bent grass (like a golf or bowling green), which I doubt anyone on here has!
