W have just bought our first Laptop which comes supplied with Windows 7, as we have used xp for years we are unfamiliar with it.
The question is, we transfered three folders of photos via a memory stick to the laptop, the photos in each folder were in order of date taken on camera (icon display option on xp), when opened up on the laptop they are in alphabetical order not by date. Is there any way to get them back to the date taken order?
None of the laptop icon options have this, only tags, name, day etc.

Open the File you want to deal with.
    Click on View.
    Click on Arrange by.
    Click on Day,

Windows has a bad habit of resetting the file datestamps when you copy things - probably the easiest way to get around this is to put the pictures into a zip file on the memory stick when you copy them from XP & with a bit of luck the original time & date should still be there when you extract them on win7.

Pal I think by using day, they will still be alphabetical order on that day not when they were taken, I'll give it a try.

Nick, I don't even know what a zip file is not being pc literate!

          In that case try
          View
          Sort by
          Date.
That seems to sort mine by the time at which they were taken on that particular date, not Alphanumerical order.
