... I was feeling bored. So, I put some wood in the lathe, and turned both it and another...

    IMG_3662.JPG

Then, in some more pieces of wood, I cut lots and lots of mortise and tenon joints...

    IMG_3668.JPG

Still feeling bored, I then made up a number of metal brackets...

    IMG_3688.JPG

A few more pieces of wood were then cut and planed, assembled, then I ended up with this...

Notice the extensions. After all the work, I needed somewhere to put my mug of tea...or something stronger!

It looks very impressive, but is the whole of the back support reliant on just those brackets?
I am interested in knowing what that lump is on the trolley :)

The back support is fully tenoned into the legs, each side using twin (or double) tenons.

The object on the trolley is a dual quad 413 out of a Letter Series specification Chrysler 300. (Well, you did ask!) :)

                  Hi Sandy,

                  I love that :)

You wouldn't like to come and build me a wall unit with shelves and cupboards etc about 7" high, 1' wide and 10' long would you :)

                  :please:

Do you mean something that has cupboards and drawers similar to these? :)

Me thinks Sandy Ground has done a little bit of wood working before! There isn't that usual "rustic DIY" look to his creations. Totally impressed, when you have finished doing the job for Anthony R how are you placed for popping up to here and making me 2 fitted wardrobes? We always have PLENTY of "something stronger" on offer here!

If I knew where "Igloo" was, then I might take you up on that! :)

Seriously, the only woodworking I have ever done was in school. I would add though that when that subject was taught by an ex rugby player at both club and international level, someone that no boy wanted to get on the wrong side of, we tended to learn. If we didnt, we would be a)called "you soft Mick" b) made to stand on the bench, or c) clipped round the ear. Sometimes all three.

Even today, when I make something in wood, I can "feel" him standing behind me!
