    Looks like your pump is the Hoselock Easyclear 4500 and its instructions suggest you can run it as just as a waterfall as per pic 4B.
    From that PDF, think you might not be able to turn off the top flow completely to avoid pump problems, so you will have to move your waterflall pipe to that top connection and turn off your original waterfall side outlet.

      many thanks for your advice i will try and sort this out hopefully it will fit under the cascade section of the pond

      Husband of course he did...built a wooden pond I have just found 1 Photo but please do not look at the state of the grass at that particular time....its still looking a little scruffy around the wooden floor slates today....The Elder Tree that was behind the pond came down two years ago..the birds vanished for a few days in confusion, but who like changes....

        I have a preformed pond and used rocks at one end to create a rocky ramp for anyone who falls in to clamber out. There are small gaps between the rocks that could create sheltering spots for any pond inhabitants who wish to use them. Can't comment on pumps as don't have one.
