Don't know what the "pc" fuss is about, it's just an under stairs cupboard  albeit beautifully crafted! :love30:

    Hang on ... :think2: ... erm ... ... ...

... would the "non PC" term go by the initials G.H. ? :heehee:

I'm always impressed by those who are good at woodwork and there's been some good examples on here.

But for those of us who aren't as talented, there's still some hope.
A common task is the construction of bookshelves. We can all get a wood yard to cut sections of Contiplas or whatever, then it's just a case of fixing them together. Then "admiring the bow" in the middle when your put books or anything heavy on them.

Or you can achieve something better with basic tools, which looks quite professional.

This I made from hard wood bull-nosed edge window sills.

                  Well impressed!

Actually, at home we call ours the tea-shed, but that really does insult it a bit.

Thank you for that. The Tea Shed was a big project, taking from the third week in May one year, to the third week in June the following year to get it into its original useable state. Of course, that also involved planing and moulding a lot of K24 planks into t&g, as well as cutting quite a few joints, digging the foundations, etc. etc....

Its part of my philosophy. Not only as regards gardening, but other things as well. The more time and effort that goes into it, the more pleasure is gained afterwards.

"Glory hole" has always been the dumping ground for stuff you should have thrown away, in my house.
Is this a new meaning for the term, or have I been missing something for 60 odd years?

Its had the same meaning for me also. I believe it was originally the term for a storage area at the blunt end of a ship. There are others on here that will be able to confirm that.

As @martin-f linked to, nowadays it has a completely different meaning.

@pete you and I must have lead sheltered lives!:snorky:
