I'm putting up a small card in the newsagent window and I wondered if someone would be so kind as to sort my grammar out, unfortunately I was not gifted with good grammar...

    Thank you very much!

Reads perfectly fine to me. Good luck with it.

For pallets, have you tried phoningsome local builders merchants, larger garden centres etc? They often end up with loads of pallets that are perfectly good for what you need, but may be too worn, cracked, buckled etc for them to reuse.

        Thanks clueless :)

There's a local ironmongers (about 10 miles away) which usually has pallets stacked up in the car park which are free but I thought I might try and ask locally first as someone closer by would be easier for me especially if they could just drop them off for petrol! (I don't drive...)

Two "also's" in the same sentence is a grammatical :nonofinger:
Could read: I am also looking for (seeking?) wooden pallets to create compost bays and to renew the raised beds, which are rotten.

Feel I must add: I'm being a pedant!

Your advert reads well and conveys all the things you want it to.

Just remember: it isn't what you write that could be a problem, it is how it is interpreted ;)

Your message comes across loud and clear

Hope you get a good response and achieve all that you need to from it :ccheers:

Thanks "M" I'm trying to keep it simple but also conveying what I intend to do with the items I want as it's a bit like this here:

Ditto to all the above answers:smile:

Learnt something new this morning, all the times I have visited Wight I never knew there were allotments at Freshwater, mind you we are usually walking the coastal footpaths so never go right into the heart of Freshwater:biggrin:

I used to use old doors nailed together to make my compost bins they rotted after a few years so now use those Tonne(Ton)bags that people have soil etc delivered in them with a pole through the loops in the four corners and I find they are very effective and once the weather gets to them I just empty the contents and swop them for a new one:smile:

Good luck and hope you get a good response:smile:

                      Here goes;

"I have recently been allocated an allotment in Freshwater and I am in desperate need of some more gardening tools (a rake, garden fork, trowel etc.).
I am also looking for wooden pallets to create some compost bays and to renew the raised beds which have become rotten.

If you have any unused tools for sale or surplus pallets I would love to hear from you. If you are able to deliver pallets I would be happy to cover your fuel costs!"

Over to @shiney to finish the job off correctly :blue thumb:

As I dont use much english any more, I'm not so sure about this, but, is that not mixing singular and plural and should therefore read "...and I am in desperate need of some more gardening tools (rakes, garden forks, trowels etc.)..." or even just "...(rake, garden fork, trowel, etc.)..." dropping the word "a"?

Just a thought do you have any car boot sales nearby? They often have garden equipment for sale at reasonable prices :)

Sorry, I've not been around much.

Everyone has made good suggestions but @longk has summed it up well. There are ways to improve it with a slight change to the grammar but it's really not necessary.

The original was quite sufficient to get the meaning across very well. :blue thumb:

Not too sure about other areas on the country, but, around here we tend to have a Boot Fair season (not such a hardy lot those booters :heehee: ) which begins in the Spring and runs through until Autumn - start and end dates remain flexible and not set in stone. But I do agree that is a good place to look.
