I received another unsolicited call yesterday from Brighter Home Solutions. The object of the call was to find out whether I wanted improvements to my home and they would send free vouchers. They said that they had just opened a new showroom in my area (true) and that they are calling me back because I had shown an interest last year when I heard they were going to open (untrue).

I told him that wasn't true and he just carried on with his patter. So I interrupted him and asked him if he had listened to what I said. He said he had heard me but realised that people don't remember calls from a year ago. I said that I remember that I didn't express an interest and replied that nobody remembers all their phone calls.

He was a bit taken aback when I said that I do and that I have an eidetic memory. I then added that I remember the call quite clearly and that it wasn't him that spoke to me and that I had caught out the original caller in four lies. I told him that I also remembered telling them not to call me again.

He then started trying to explain what brilliant deals they had and so I asked him if English was a foreign language for him (he was definitely English). His reply was "I don't understand what you're asking!" So I said "Ah! I thought you didn't understand English properly." He said "Of course I do, I'm English". To which I replied "So what part of don't call me didn't you understand?" He hung up!!
