      Good morning,

@"M" we have a electricity post in our garden, it was there when we moved in, it never bothered me until it was covered in yellow & black strips due to Elf & safety! I took them off three times but they kept replacing them....I have two clematis growing up the post now . We used to get a cheque every two years for £56 but we've not had one for a while, it wasn't a lot of money in the grand scale of things but it was a little bonus :dbgrtmb:.

The hens are now going through their moult, I have enough feathers to make a duvet! :)

      Enjoy your Indian tonight @shiney

I'd better get on, I'm off to work with Kev for a few hours :dbgrtmb:. Enjoy your day :)

Morning all, hope everyone is well.

It's a bright and chilly start here, looks like being a fine day.

We're off to an 'apple day' event run by the Suffolk Widlife Trust today. A local expert on fruit varieties will be there, he's got a vast amount of knowledge and can identify just about any traditional orchard variety from looking at the fruit alone.

I'm on a bit of a mission, as we have several different pear trees in the orchard at work, the owner is particularly fond of the fruit from one tree, but we have no idea what the variety is. So I'm hoping I can get an ID on it.

Have a good day everyone. :)

            Good morning fellow WW'ers

:hapydancsmil: Happy 102 Birthday Mr Shy Knee :hapydancsmil: (you look so well for your age! :love30: ) Good luck with your tournament and enjoy that Indian reward

Welcome home @CanadianLori - glad to hear you are ok; now, get a wiggle on and catch up with your Earth life so you can spend more time with us :heehee:

@Beckie76 - that's interesting, thank you. Yup, mine went into moult after a summer of broodiness  Bless them :chicken::chicken::chicken: :heehee:

@Trunky - have a lovely day; I'm quite excited for you! It will be fab if you can have that particular pear identified. Good luck!

@wiseowl - I do hope you aren't suggesting I put yellow tape on those cables :hate-shocked: I'll be fried alive! :roflol::roflol:

@moyra - hoping you are feeling a little better this morning :grphg:

#1 Son received a call at teatime to inform him he hadn't been successful. Not quite sure what went wrong and their "reason" simply doesn't make any sense at all! It's quite a draining process for me let alone him!! But, hey ho: it wasn't meant to be and he can still draw on the experience in the future. He has another stage in the interview process with a different company in London next week so all the focus has shifted that way now. Onwards and upwards

#2 Son has informed me that he is going to be taking driving lessons to amuse himself in his down time between lectures. I'm a bit relieved that he's doing that in Wales so I don't go through *those* ups and downs with him (speaking of which, I've just realised he'll get a lot of hill start practise!). I think learning to drive is a very exciting thing to do and I'm quite excited for him :heehee:

Vibes and smiles to all xxMxx

Well I got that wrong.

Mrs Trunky decided to go out for a bike ride, as it was a fine morning and she was itching to get out for a bit of exercise.

We've just had a short downpour and Mrs T has returned from her bike ride looking very wet and bedraggled. Of course, as a concerned husband, I was there to help her as she removed all her wet clothing before heading upstairs for a shower.

Well, our trip to the apple day to get an ID on that pear wasn't quite as straightforward as I'd hoped.

We set off in the car after all the usual faffing about to make sure we hadn't forgotten anything; wellies, waterproofs it case it rained again (which it did), bottle of water, camera, money, cats shut indoors and so on.

The event was only about 10 miles from home, so not a long journey really. A couple of miles from our destination Mrs Trunky said "You did bring that pear with you, didn't you?".
                  :hate-shocked:

So, turn around, go back home and retrieve said pear, which was after all, the reason for the journey in the first place.

Having eventually arrived at the venue, we wandered around the various stalls until we spied the apple and pear expert at his table, laden with many interesting and unusual fruit of all shapes and sizes. I've met him before and he's an extremely knowledgeable chap, with a wealth of knowledge on the origins and uses of apple and pear varieties who will happily chat about them for as long as you like.

So I wandered over, clutching my single pear and arrived at the table just a fraction of a second after another bloke clutching several carrier bags, who dumps them on the table and says "Hello, we spoke on the phone earlier. I've got eleven different apple trees in my orchard at home and I brought some of each for you to have a look at".
                  :gaah:

Anyway, after a bit more wandering around and the usual lecture from Mrs Trunky about not being so impatient, we returned to the expert's table and ... eventually ... got him to look at my pear.

Turns out he couldn't give me a positive ID on the spot, so he's taken the pear away to do some further investigation and will get back to me in the due course.
                  :rolleyespink:

The tournament went very well with a very good turnout. The person that we employ to run it is the Chief county director and a national director so it all went smoothly. :blue thumb:

What was even better was that my team won the event - getting the cash and the trophies. :yahoo:

After watching the Trump/Clinton farce I've just finished sending all the results and computer files to the hundred contestants in the tournament. :phew:

Time for a cuppa :coffee: and put my feet up.
